Author Another Reason Why
WebCaptain Coutts # 1 Trans-oceanic voyages have became commonplace for multihulls despite predictions of grave disasters that would beset them. Currently the fastest circumnavigation, the longest 24-hour distance, and most line honors belong to multihulls. Even if one disregards "speed" as one of the virtues, comfort, space and safety are dramatic.(author unknown)

Trevor and Marilyn Fry # 2 Catamarans were around long before monohulls, 3000 years ago in the Pacific - maybe our ancestors knew a thing or two.

Russell and Betty English # 3 How many monohulls have you seen that you can sit a 8 person outdoor table setting on the deck and enjoy the breeze and the view with friends over dinner and wine!

Sean # 5 Nobody ever scales up to a mono from a multihull.

Jan Kirchner # 6 The tops of nasty waves are confused water. Cats will "slip & slide" in a storm to react to these extreme forces and not trip (and sometimes sink!) like a leaner! Multihulls are safer!

Richard Eisin # 11 Only a cat will turn on its own boat lenth - allows you to maneuver a wide boat in a narrow space.

Steve Marshall # 12 ENORMOUS usable deck space. Remember, this is your yard while cruising.

Cherritia # 13 I don't have 10,000 lbs of toxic metal in my Keel to drag me down to the depths!

Jim Philips # 15 Sppeeeeeeed!!!!!

Mark Clouse # 17 After your wife finds out you bought a sail boat - they are more wheel chair friendly.

Mary Harris # 39 They're babe magnets...kids love the space and privacy two hulls provide...and nothing like a huge level cockpit for laying out your toys! A level playing field also makes interior redecorating easier...and faster.

Randall Griepp # 53 I'm sure there is no boat that could have made our trip easier or safer (About our Chris White Designs Cat). The feeling of confidence which one has even when banging along at 12 kts. has to be experienced to be believed. Tim says he will never be able to sail a monohull again.

William # 54 Life in a leaner is just crooked

Joe # 55 Like the song says "Stuck in the middle with you..."

Chiro Kirk # 57 IF a cat does roll completely over during a cruise, it can only happen once - you can't say THAT about a monohull!

Bobby S # 63 When we sailed a chartered cat in Southern waters last year,we noticed that a drink placed on the table in the spacious cockpit styed right where we put it despite a four-six foot chop. That was enough for me! I've spent years on a monohull chasing coffee mugs and wineglasses off the table. I began asking myself every time we passed a 50 foot monohull heeling at 25 degrees why the people on the boat endured the discomfort!

Leandro Costa # 64 It´s growing in number, more than "singlemarans", isn´t a smart tendency or what?

Bernard M. Mager # 65 put your drink anywhere and it will still be there at the end of the night

Josh L Mersantor # 66 Because the are tougher and will lsat longer than all the rest

Captain Coutts # 67 God in His wisdom gave women two breasts for balance, speed and beauty, then why would any respectable sailor want one hull? It's just wrong! ;)

Peter # 68 I can moor in two feet of water and give her hulls a scrub at any beach in knee-deep water.

Cyrille # 69 Cat : English for swift, fast and nice animal. Marran(t) means fun in French. no wonder ! Catamaran are just that.

Tony Roberts # 70 I love the look of wonderment on the faces of a mono crew when you overtake them in a big cruising cat, sipping your drink whilst they are are all on the rails in their racing mono hanging on for grim life! It's just exhilerating to watch them!

Rob Arro # 71 A mono-hull is an outdated design that can be made of old world construction materials. It is inherently unstable and a large heavy thing must be added to the bottom to keep it somewhat upright………… When blessed with more than just wood, put it to good.

Chris # 72 You can carry a larger dinghy, in davits, or readily useable, without having to manhandle one on deck or peer around it

Klara # 73 You've got that obvious space to put up a hammock.

Jane Clark # 74 I don't like having to throw my gin and tonic overboard to tack - multihull is the only way to go

2hulls4me # 75 I can take long walks during a passage and then climb into one of my two queen-sized beds for a nap. (cats don't have "berths" - they have real beds!)

Amaia # 76 we can be 12 on our cat and still find some privacy...hey, you need a fairly large house for that...see why at www.catamaran-thailand.com

Louis # 77 I like the rugged look reminiscent of a Romulan Warbird. The only thing missing is a cloaking device.

BonyJones # 78 Cat be nimble, Cat be quick, Cats jump over The Mono Schtick!!

Blake # 79 IF you have a dog for example they can walk straight in to the cabin, where as its down the ladder in a mono.

John Perry # 80 There are only three types of boat: a cat, half a cat and a cat and a half.

John Perry # 81 If it's not a cat, it's a dog

Canibul # 82 You ALWAYS have enough parts to keep one engine running.

Kerry Young # 83 The best part is the bridge! You actually have one like a big ship and in this case you have excellent views, and a covered swimming hole. Shade is a wonderful thing.

Jack # 84 How many friends do you have that love balancing a beer trying to move around on a 30 degree incline.

TC # 85 If I wanted to be in the water I wouldn't need a boat. I prefer to be "ON" the water!

TC # 86 If I wanted to be in the water I wouldn't need a boat. I prefer to be "ON" the water!

Chris # 87 And for even more stability; park it on the beach!

Edouard (SP) # 88 We are happy in a catamaran. As for me I share the joy to live on board and the cruising lifestyle. My girlfriend discovered that also she can sail: she is a wheelchair user.

Clark Martin # 89 I can prepare meals underway and not get sick. On a trip from Samoa to Honolulu my coffe cup never fell off the table. CopyCat

Grandma # 91 In a marina stuffed with zillion dollar monos - who gets the most attention? it's because ANYONE can aspire to owning a Cat.

Marcelo Feijo # 92

Antonio M. # 93 one is a boat and other is a half.

Derek # 94 You get a big build in hammock to recline in on the front of the boat

Trond Are # 95 We drive on unleaded gas and nsail on unleaded boats

Cherry # 96 You don't have to stow EVERYTHING before you go for a sail (like you do in a monohull

Chris # 97 When you're in the bad books you can sleep in the other hull, rather than in the cockpit.

Ty Ebright # 98 Because 99% of all monohullers have never been on a Cat!

Terry O'Brien # 99 SPEED IS THE ULTIMATE COMFORT

Dennis # 100 Why have the sea railing (tripwire) cut into your back while beating to windward? For hours on end.

Rod Pearce # 101 I prefer to walk on the deck not the walls of my saloon....

jim # 102 It is easier to split up during a divorce.

Roy Adcock # 103 I would rather wait for rescue on a on a capsized cat than ride a lead weight to the bottom.

larry a. rosa # 104 because reef station catamarans are quality at an initial low purchase price

Robert Watson # 105 The monohuller says: The most stable position for a multihull is upside down. The reply is; The most stable position for a monohull is on the bottom of the ocean.

c.spots # 106 When in paradise, let’s enjoy it. We want to be able to spend time outside, or at least viewing it; not down in a hull looking out throughportholes - especially if you are rocking back and forth with even small waves. With the cat you have a large salon area where much of yourliving is done, with a 360 view. At the same upper level there is a large cockpit (outside), and it can be provided with shade and enclosed easily, even while sailing. This great view of your surroundings even adds to your safety. Not to mention that you don’t need to climb down a ladder tocheck the navigation station! OK, OK, I'll concede that those of you who want to travel to ugly places might prefer a monohull.

Russell Zylstra # 107 G'day again. Something I really like is being able to be on watch in side kicking back in a comfortable seat with a 360 degree view and have the chart table right in front of me.... It just doesn't get any better than that.... cheers from down under...

joao batista ferreira gomes # 108 stability

Kenneth McGeehan # 109 The natural light that you get in the cabin of a cat is at least 95% better that a mono.

Kenneth McGeehan # 110 The natural light that you get in the cabin of a cat is at least 95% better that a mono.

Xaq # 111 Tequila + obstruction in monohull = disaster. Tequila + Obstruction in Cat = "what obstruction?".

Poly G. Amous # 112 Two wives, so I need to leave the country fast to escape morality police

Brian Coe # 113 You get to meet a lot of nice people ditch-crawling or beaching on a cat and, of course, I never spill my beer.

Leo Brodeur # 114 Reading all of the comments about SAILING CAT'S I now know why I owne one I guess I just needed to hear it from one else you are all right there is nothing better then sailing SQ when all other are healing.

Doc # 117 Many years ago in Catamaran world Bill said to Fred I'm going to build a Monohull, Fred replied But how will you keep it upright? Bill said Oh that's easy I'll hang a big heavy weight off it's bottom. Fred then replied but won't that make it go really slow... Yeah replied Bill... Enough Said!!!
